The 4-More allows the easy addition of 4 more zones to a RoomBox NT system up to a maximum of 24.

The 4-More has 4 built in amplifiers with loudspeaker outputs, 8 line-level audio inputs for the sources.

Setting the base zone

The base zone is the zone that the 4-More starts at. For example, if it is used with a just a RoomBox NT the base zone should be set to zone 9, the first zone that will be in the 4-More. If it is used with a RoomBox NT and an 8-More the base zone will be 17.

The base zone is set by means of the DIP switches on the back of the unit. Some base zone settings may not be usable with our current product range. Switch settings are as follows:

Base zone SW1 (left) SW2 SW3 SW4
1 Up Up Up x
5 Up Up Down x
9 Up Down Up x
13 Up Down Down x
17 Down Up Up x
21 Down Up Down x
25 Down Down Up x
29 Down Down Down x

x = Does not matter.

All configuration of zones in the 4-More is done through the RoomBox NT using the RoomBox NT configuration software. Zones on the 4-More just appear as extra zones on the RoomBox NT.

All zones have the same features as zones on the RoomBox NT, except that source-specific IR passthrough cannot be used from zones on the 4-More.

Mains Inlet

The unit must be connected to an earthed 230 V ac mains supply with a standard IEC connector.

Expansion port

This is used for connection, using the special lead supplied, to a RoomBox NT system. Do not plug or unplug anything into this port with any part of the system powered up. As there is only one expansion port the 4-More is fitted as the last in a chain of RoomBox NT compatible units. For this reason a CVX cannot be connected to a system with a 4-More.

It is possible, however, to make up a lead that could be used to connect a 4-More to a CVX. This will need you to connect two pins on the 4-More expansion connector cable at the 26-way high density D-type at either end to a 10-way IDC ribbon connector to plug into the CVX as shown in the table below. Leave all existing connections in the cable as they are.

Function 4-More expansion cable pin number CVX connector pin number
Ground 18 1
Data 22 9

Living Control do not supply a suitable lead and great care should be taken in making one up. No responsibility for loss or damage caused by leads made up by customers is accepted.

Source audio inputs 1 to 8

The are for the line-level audio inputs from the sources connected to the system, such as radio, MusicBox, DVD audio etc. One set of connectors is normally connected to the sources and the other set used to pass the signal on to the RoomBox NT.

Note that y-splitters are required to connect the audio inputs to the 4-More

Control Pad 1 to Control Pad 4

The are for RJ45 connectors to connect to the control pads via CAT 5 cable. For correct operation the pads must be plugged into the zone number corresponding to the zone number to which the pad has been configured.

In the first 4-More these represent zones 9-12.

Zone Speaker Connections

These must be connected using good quality 4-wire speaker cable to the pair of speakers in each zone. Note that all four wires must be used and no two wires must ever be connected together. Make sure that the speakers are phased correctly.

The zone numbers match the control pad zones.
