If you are using Windows 7 you must be logged in as an administrator for this software to work properly.
We strongly recommend that you install and run this software on the PC you intend to use for configuration, to check for problems, before you go on site
When you first run software, you must put it into dealer mode to be able to configure of the RoomBox. To do this, from the 'File' menu select preferences and enter the password, the default for this is the word 'password'. Ensure the 'Dealer mode' box is ticked.
If you do not have a serial port on your computer you must use a suitably set up USB to serial adaptor. Any USB to RS232 adapter that is based on either the Prolific or FTDI chip-sets are preferred, Living Control cannot provide support for these devices. Ensure that the adapter has a suitable COM port number on the computer, the lower the better. If you are still enable to establish communications, check that there is no phone management software running, these (especially Nokia) tend to block the COM ports, expecting phone communications. Bluetooth software can also have a similar effect.
You must tell the RoomBox NT what sources will be connected to it. To do this, from the 'Edit' menu click 'Sources'.
The boxes at the top of the screen show the sources that will be connected to the source inputs on the rear panel of the RoomBox. Available pre-configured sources are shown in the left hand window. Click a category to expand it. Click on the source you want to add. This will create a box. Drag the box to the source number which you intend to use it for. This will bring up the source configuration box.
The first 8 sources are generally used for those that will be connected to the RoomBox. Sources 9-12 are virtual sources which may be used for sources which do not require an input to the RoomBox, for example, local AV-room sources.
Deleting a source
To delete a source, right click it and select 'delete'.
Creating a new source
To create a new a source, right click it and select 'Create New Source'. For further information, see creating a new source type.
You can download additional sources from RoomBox NT device files.
Copy the file to the correct folder in the configuration software devices folder. Normally in Windows XP this will be at: c:\Program Files\Living Control\RoomBoxNT\Devices
Source Configuration box
This is the name for that source that will appear on pads. You can edit this to show the name of your preference. Keep this to 8 characters so that it will appear correctly on all types of pad.
For the MusicBox outputs it is suggested that you change this name to show the way in which the output will be used. For example you could set it to the name of the person in the household who will be using this output.
This shows the type of source in respect of the way it uses tracks and titles. Leave this as it is.
This is the name of the media used in the source when relevant. Leave this as it is.
This is the number of media, for example discs or preset radio stations in the source. For multi-disc CD players leave set this to the disc capacity of the player. For the MusicBox leave this as it is (currently 2). For sources with no titles set this to 1, do not set it to 0.
Use this tab to set up the way in which the source will be controlled by the RoomBox
This will be by Serial (RS232) for the MusicBox and some tuners but otherwise it will be infrared.
For a serial control source, set the COM port that you will be connecting to the source to control it here.
Set the IR port into which you will plug the IR emitter that will be used to control the source here. Some sources may have both serial and IR control.
Tick this box if the source uses RC5 IR control.

Tick this box if you want to create an IR passthrough from the room pad to the source. This would let you use the original source remote control to control the source, for example with Sky.

Video - Digital input
This is the input number on a third party digital switching unit. Currently not implemented. See Controlling CYP video switchers for instructions on using an CYP HDMI matrix.
